Personal Data Privacy Policy and Statement

Your privacy is important to MIC. We treat personal data that you give us as confidential, and will not disclose your personal data to a third party for use in direct marketing. By giving us your personal data, you consent to our use to send you information, invitation to, and news of the Church and its events by our employees, lay leaders or volunteers. If you do not wish to receive any of these, please contact us by mail or email with your name and contact details. 

The purpose of this Data Privacy Policy is to inform you of how MIC collects, uses and processes your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO). 

1. Information we may collect from you may include – Member or visitor records including your name, gender, date of birth, identification numbers, contact information (e.g. address, phone number, email address), payment information (e.g. credit or debit card or bank information), photographs and video footages taken at events and any other information which you may provide in any forms submitted to us or via other forms of interaction with us.

2. Personal data is collected by us in various circumstances, including the following:

  • When you register for any event on our website;
  • When you register as a visitor or new member in our Church services or participate in our events; 
  • In your tithing envelope; and
  • When you submit your personal data to us for any other reason.

3. We may also obtain personal data about you from other sources and combine it with information you provide to us. If you provide us with any personal data relating to a third party (e.g. information of spouse, children, parents), by submitting such information to us, you represent to us that you have obtained the consent of the third party to you providing us with their personal data for the respective purposes.

4. Main Purposes of Keeping Personal Data

Your personal data may be collected, used, disclosed and/or processed for one or more of the following purposes:

  • To send you information, invitation to, and news of the Church and its events;
  • To collate photos and/or videos for Church services and publications;
  • To process collection of your tithing and send you letters confirming the amount of your donation for your claim for tax deduction;
  • To respond to or follow up on your queries or requests;
  • To consider or invite you to take on a volunteer or leadership role in the Church and to conduct background check therefor as necessary; 
  • To our Ministers, employees, lay leaders, volunteers, supplier, teachers or organizers in the relevant Church ministry, activity or event for any of the above purposes.

5. Retention of personal data

 We will retain your personal data collected for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purpose for  which it is collected and/or as may be required by applicable law or in accordance with relevant MIC policy.

6. Protection measures

We take appropriate steps to protect the personal data we hold against loss, unauthorised access or misuse. 

7. Data access and correction

You have the right to request access to and correction of information held by us about you. To exercise this right (for which we may charge a reasonable fee for processing), please complete the Data Access Request Form (OPS003) (www.pcpd.org.hk/english/resources_centre/publications/forms/files/Dforme.pdf) and send to

8. Information collected when you visit our website

When you visit our website we will record your visit only as a “hit”. The webserver makes a record of your visit that includes your IP addresses (and domain names), the types and configurations of browsers, language settings, geo-locations, operating systems, previous sites visited, and time/durations and the pages visited (visitor data). We use the visitor data for the purpose of maintaining and improving our websites such as to determine the optimal screen resolution, which pages have been most frequently visited etc. We use such data only for website enhancement and optimisation purposes. We do not use, and have no intention to use the visitor data to personally identify anyone.
